Distillers Grains Cubes and Pellets Grain Cubes and Pellets

There is a growing trend for feed mills to use high levels of Dried Distillers Grains (DDG) and Dried Distillers Grains with Solubles (DDGS) in pelleted feeds and feed mills have discovered that pellets and cubes are much softer and shorter with higher levels of fines.

When pelleting or cubing dried grains at 15% on up, quality begins to suffer and when formulas have 40% or higher quality is very poor and formulas require a binding agent like Super-Bind or Molastik to help.

Super-Bind When pelleting low percentage levels of DDG/DDGS Super-Bind should be used from 10 to 15 lb per ton and on high percentage levels use 25 to 50 lb per ton. Super-Bind can be used in formulas with no molasses or low levels of molasses.

Molastik Another binder option for feed mills that are using molasses levels from 5 to 7% or more is Molastik. This product is a pellet binder that turns molasses into a high inclusion binder. When pelleting low percentage levels of DDG/DDGS, Molastik should be used from 4 to 6 lb per ton and on high percentage levels 8 to 16 lb per ton. Molastik will increase hardness, reduce fines and increase weather ability of pellets or cubes.
